Didn't spot that cashback till last night, went digging through the promos tab at Rocket Casino after the main banner gave me nothing worth a deposit - reckon they'd rather you chase the headline bonus than find the cashback. Anyone know how the wagering works on it or does it land straight in the bankroll? 💸
500x one day, zero the next. Classic.

Heh, that buried promos tab trick is older than me nan's pokie club membership 😄 turned a 50 into 5k once and only found the cashback later when the bank was long gone, moral being they'll always put the shiny banner up top and tuck the safety net down the bottom. Same story at Rocket by the sound of it. Worth a squiz every promo page, newbies, the headline bonus rarely tells the whole tale.

Funny how the maths of it works out, too - the headline bonus looks flashier, but on a small spin sample the cashback is usually the friendlier figure, because hit rate matters more than RTP when you're grinding a medium-volatility pokie. I keep a sheet on this stuff and the recurring pattern is that the promo buried down the promos tab tends to carry softer wagering, which drags the expected loss down considerably. I found Rocket's cashback the same way as you two, poking around after the banner didn't tempt me. What I'd flag, Maccas, is that a safety net you only discover after the bank is gone isn't much of a net. I now make a habit of trawling the whole promos page before any deposit, every time, because operators know most punters won't. And AceChaser's right about the incentive structure - the shiny banner is designed for the impulsive punter, while the genuinely useful offer sits quiet where nobody looks.

Ok Wollongong you lost me a bit 😅 what's the difference between hit rate and RTP when you say the cashback works out friendlier? Go easy on me, only been at this a few weeks 🙏

hah, go easy on ya ClassicTV, we all started somewhere 😄 rtp is the long-run payback of a pokie over millions of spins, hit rate is how often it pays you anything at all in the short run. so a dead-stretch session at rocket with medium volatility, the cashback quietly tops you back up each week, the headline bonus needs you to deposit more upfront, the cashback just works on what you've already lost. ah well, we grind on.
It's all hit and busted before, folks.

Missed it too, only clocked the cashback after a mate asked why I never take it 💸 on a grind session it softens the losses way more than a banner bonus with heavy wagering.

Mild disagreement from me on the "cashback is friendlier" line, Wollongong, it depends on the volatility, and nobody in this thread has actually said what the wagering or eligibility on Rocket's cashback looks like. A cashback that only counts losses on certain games, or arrives as bonus money with its own turnover attached, can easily be worse than a straight promo you read properly. BookVegas gave ClassicTV a fair summary but left out the bit that matters: hit rate shapes your ride, RTP shapes where you finish. On a small spin sample neither tells you much anyway. Same question for BenEsky — "softens the losses" assumes the cashback is real money or low-wagering, which I wouldn't assume from a promo buried that deep in the tab. If they hide it, my first instinct is to read the terms twice, not once. 📊
Do the EV, then spin.

TillIWin's got a point but I'll still back the cashback, wagering on a refund is way easier to clear than clearing a deposit bonus at 2 a spin 😅 The real annoyance is Rocket burying it in the promos tab. If you're grinding dead machines and never check past the banner, you're leaving money on the table every week. Would love someone to post the actual terms though, because if the cashback comes with silly wagering attached the whole argument flips.

Plenty of confidence in this thread for people who haven't seen the actual cashback terms. A refund only beats a banner bonus if the wagering on it is light and the games that count aren't restricted. Nobody's confirmed either at Rocket. RTP is long-run, not one session, so "softens the losses" is a variance nuance, not a guarantee. 📊 I'd want the eligibility in writing before calling it the friendlier offer.
Volatility > vibes.

TillIWin and Freo_Dad are right that nobody's read the actual terms yet, myself included 😅 But buried in the promos tab or not, I checked the cashback's there on Rocket and figured even a light wagering clear beats chasing a banner bonus I'd never finish. Kept my deposit small while I wait to see what the fine print says, discipline over hype 🔥

@TomRoller "light wagering" is doing a lot of lifting there. Read the terms first, some cashback is credited as a bonus with the same turnover trap.
Hype isn't a payout.

Took me ages to find the cashback too, buried like a needle 😅 SlotQueen's got a fair point tho - if it lands as a bonus with full turnover, my favourite pokies probably won't even count 🔥🎰
Backing my slot to the last spin.

Freo_Dad's right that the game weighting is the whole ballgame here. I'd add one more trap to check: whether the cashback is calculated on net losses after bonus play, because that quietly shrinks the refund. On a small spin sample it won't matter much, but over a month of sessions it's the difference between real cashback and nearly nothing.
